(TSXV: CKG) (OTCQX: CHPGF) (\"Chesapeake\" or the\n\"Company\") is pleased to provide a progress update on its proprietary heap\noxidation technology (\"Technology\") on its Metates project, located in\nDurango, Mexico.\n\nJean-Paul Tsotsos, Chief Executive Officer, commented, \"The first results from\nthe third phase of Metates' metallurgical testing highlight several\nsignificant advances through our variability program, including the ability to\nmaintain and improve precious metals recoveries while reducing oxidation\ntimes. The improvements are expected to provide several cost-economic benefits\nand the opportunity to further enhance production while lowering working\ncapital and costs. In addition, the preliminary High Pressure Grinding Roll\n(\"HPGR\") testwork underway offers another opportunity to further enhance\nrecoveries. Industry interest in our Technology is growing, with several\nthird-party projects participating in the testwork program as we execute on\nour commercialization strategy.\"\n\nOxidation Phase Performance Improvements Targeting Enhanced Recoveries\n\n(https://images.newsfilecorp.com/files/752/315365_75ba941ef42b69e0_002full.jpg)\n\nFigure 1: Massive Intrusive Oxidation Columns\n\nTo view an enhanced version of this graphic, please visit:\nhttps://images.newsfilecorp.com/files/752/315365_75ba941ef42b69e0_002full.jpg\n\nDuring the Phase III variability testwork program, new procedures were\nimplemented to better simulate actual mine operations. These procedures have\nbeen positive, achieving better gold and silver recoveries in a reduced 90-day\noxidation time (as compared to the Phase II 240-day and the Phase I 180-day\noxidation times). The Massive Intrusive domain from Metates, which represents\na majority of the future mine plan, reacted well, with precious metal\nrecoveries achieving 70% for gold and 61% for silver over the shortened 90-day\noxidation phase. Compared to the Phase I test program, gold recoveries\nincreased significantly, while silver recoveries doubled as the oxidation time\nhalved (Figure 2). More importantly, initial Phase III recoveries were broadly\nsimilar to Phase II, but they were achieved in nearly a third of the oxidation\ntime.\n\n(https://images.newsfilecorp.com/files/752/315365_75ba941ef42b69e0_003full.jpg)\n\nFigure 2: Intrusive Breccia Oxidation Columns\n\nTo view an enhanced version of this graphic, please visit:\nhttps://images.newsfilecorp.com/files/752/315365_75ba941ef42b69e0_003full.jpg\n\nAdditionally, this same procedure was applied to the Intrusive Breccia domain\nfrom Metates. This domain represents a smaller portion of the overall deposit\nand overlays the Massive Intrusive, hosting similar precious metal grades. The\nprocedure on this domain showed significant recovery improvement, with\nprecious metal recoveries increasing to 57% for gold and 60% for silver over a\nsimilar 180-day oxidation phase. Compared to the Phase I test program,\nprecious metal recoveries nearly doubled over the same oxidation time (Figure\n2). More importantly, initial Phase III recoveries exceeded Phase II\nrecoveries over a shorter oxidation time.\n\nThe performance enhancements in Massive Intrusive and Intrusive Breccia\nhighlight a pathway to increasing final precious metal recoveries while\nreducing required oxidation-phase processing time. Overall, this is expected\nto improve Metates' economics by reducing project capital and operating costs\nand lowering working capital requirements during mine ramp-up.\n\nRecovery Improvements with HPGR\n\n(https://images.newsfilecorp.com/files/752/315365_75ba941ef42b69e0_004full.jpg)\n\nFigure 3: Intrusive Breccia Direct Cyanidation Columns\n\nTo view an enhanced version of this graphic, please visit:\nhttps://images.newsfilecorp.com/files/752/315365_75ba941ef42b69e0_004full.jpg\n\nComparative crushing tests were performed during Phase III testwork to\ndetermine the potential benefits of conventional crushing versus an HPGR\nsystem. When run in parallel, direct cyanidation of the HPGR-crushed material\nshowed marked improvement over conventional crushing, with gold and silver\nrecoveries increasing by 16% and 23% to 47% and 65%, respectively (Figure 3).\nThese results demonstrate the potential to increase baseline precious-metal\nrecoveries before heap oxidation. The Optimization Phase metallurgical\ntestwork to be conducted in preparation for the Company's planned\nprefeasibility study (\"PFS\") is intended to explore combining the HPGR system\nwith the Technology to reduce the oxidation phase and further increase final\nprecious-metal recoveries.\n\nIncreased Metates Silver Recoveries\n\nThe Phase III variability testwork focused on improving silver recoveries,\ngiven that Metates hosts one of the largest undeveloped silver deposits\nglobally(1) with 423.2 million ounces of silver at 14.3 g/t within 921.2\nmillion tonnes in the Measured and Indicated Mineral Resource category and a\nfurther 59.0 million ounces of silver at 13.2 g/t within 139.5 million tonnes\nin the Inferred Mineral Resource category. (See the technical report titled\n\"Metates Sulphide Heap Leach Project Phase I\" dated January 13, 2023, and news\nrelease dated February 22, 2023, the reliance on which remains contingent on\nthe Company's successful recovery of San Vicente 3.)\n\nThe initial results of the Phase III program demonstrate several positive\ndevelopments with silver recovery. The Phase II program achieved 50% to 55%\nsilver recovery, whereas the new test procedures in the variability program\nincreased recoveries to approximately 60%, and the HPGR program achieved 65%\nrecovery in the absence of the Technology. With over 400 million ounces of\nsilver, a potential 15% increase in silver recoveries would have a significant\npositive impact on Metates project economics.\n\nMetates Large Diameter and Long Residence Variability Columns\n\nThe two large diameter columns have completed the oxidation and cyanidation\nphases and are now being validated and reconciled with the analytical data\ncollected throughout the program. The long residence variability columns\ncovering the future mine plan are also in the validation and reconciliation\nstage. The planned PFS is expected to incorporate these key results to\ndetermine oxidation rates, input costs, capital estimates, and recoverable\ngold and silver ounces.\n\nGrowing Pipeline of Third-Party Testwork\n\nThe first round of third-party testwork is nearing completion, with results to\nbe released when available. Interest in the Technology's sulphide precious\nmetal unlocking capability has continued to gain momentum. The Company has\nreceived samples from three new projects, bringing the total number of\nprojects participating in the Technology testwork to six. This testwork\ncontinues in parallel with the Metates test program to demonstrate the\nTechnology's applicability across a wide range of deposits and to support\nChesapeake's strategy to commercialize the process and generate a significant\nstream of economic value.\n\nNext Steps: Metates Optimization Phase Metallurgical Program and Planned\nPrefeasibility Study\n\nTestwork continues to build on Phase III results, expand the HPGR program with\nheap oxidation and develop plans for a pilot plant demonstration facility.\n\nConcurrently, the Company is also advancing several workflows associated with\nthe planned Metates PFS. The timing of the PFS remains contingent on the\nsuccessful recovery of the San Vicente 3 concession to achieve the optimal\nvaluation for this study.\n\nThe Company intends to release the remaining results for the Phase III program\nand third-party testwork as they become available.\n\nFor Further Information:\n\nFor more information on Chesapeake's Metates and Lucy projects and its\nproprietary heap oxidation technology, please visit our website at\nwww.chesapeakegold.com or contact Jean-Paul Tsotsos at\ninvest@chesapeakegold.com or +1 778 731 1362.\n\nNeither TSX Venture Exchange nor its Regulation Services Provider (as that\nterm is defined in policies of the TSX Venture Exchange) accepts\nresponsibility for the adequacy or accuracy of this news release.\n\nQualified Persons\n\nDr. Art Ibrado, P.E., of Fort Lowell Consulting PLLC, is the independent,\nqualified person responsible for the scientific and metallurgical technical\ninformation in this news release in accordance with NI 43-101. Timing of the planned prefeasibility study remains contingent on the successful recovery of the San Vicente 3 concession, and the remaining Phase III and third-party results will be released as they become available.","key_figures":{"customDimensions":{"mi_resource_gold":"16.77 Moz @ 0.57 g/t","hpgr_gold_recovery":"47%","mi_resource_silver":"423.2 Moz @ 14.3 g/t within 921.2 Mt","test_program_phase":"Phase III variability testwork","oxidation_time_days":90,"hpgr_silver_recovery":"65%","inferred_resource_gold":"2.13 Moz @ 0.47 g/t","silver_recovery_phase2":"50-55%","silver_recovery_phase3":"~60%","hpgr_gold_recovery_gain":"16%","inferred_resource_silver":"59.0 Moz @ 13.2 g/t within 139.5 Mt","hpgr_silver_recovery_gain":"23%","prior_oxidation_time_days":[180,240],"third_party_testwork_projects":6,"intrusive_breccia_gold_recovery":"57%","massive_intrusive_gold_recovery":"70%","potential_silver_recovery_uplift":"15%","intrusive_breccia_silver_recovery":"60%","massive_intrusive_silver_recovery":"61%"}},"named_entities":{"people":[{"name":"Jean-Paul Tsotsos","role":"Chief Executive Officer"},{"name":"Dr. Art Ibrado, P.E.","role":"Independent qualified person (NI 43-101), Fort Lowell Consulting PLLC"}],"products":["Metates project (Durango, Mexico)","Lucy project","heap oxidation Technology","HPGR (High Pressure Grinding Roll)"],"companies":[{"name":"Chesapeake Gold Corp.","ticker":"CKG","relationship":"filer"},{"name":"Fort Lowell Consulting PLLC","relationship":"independent metallurgical qualified-person consultant"}],"dollarAmounts":[]},"model_name":"glm-5.3-flash","prompt_hash":"sha256:727b4b9429a443af","schema_hash":"sha256:05005c02d9cffac9","created_at":"2026-09-22T11:23:32.274Z","global_importance":22,"audience_relevance":12,"importance_components":{"tickerTier":"micro-cap TSXV junior gold developer","eventGravity":"positive flagship-asset metallurgical milestone on PFS path","sectorWeight":"precious metals development-stage","issuerAuthored":true,"householdBrandBoost":0,"retailFavoriteBoost":"modest junior-gold retail following"}},"durationMs":282987,"modelName":"glm-5.3-flash"}}
