Geopolitical and macroeconomic uncertainty\nremains high and negatively affects both demand and customer behavior. At the\nsame time, there were indications of stabilization in parts of the business,\neven though the market conditions remained challenging.\n\nHow would you sum up the first quarter for Duni Group?\n\nWe delivered a stable quarter on the whole, given the conditions. Net sales,\nadjusted for currency effects, were largely in line with the previous year and\norganic growth improved significantly compared with the previous quarter, from\n-7.0% to -1.2%.\n\nAt the same time, the market situation remains challenging and more disjointed\nthan normal. Our biggest challenge is not primarily volumes, but a negative\nmix trend. Demand has increasingly shifted from premium products to simpler,\nmore low-budget alternatives, especially in the European restaurant market.\nThis also affects profitability in a situation where volumes are being\nmaintained.\n\nWhat is driving this change in demand?\n\nAbove all, this is about a continuation of cautious consumer behavior. In a\nvolatile world, both consumers and restaurants are prioritizing price and\nshort-term cost control. This is evident in several European markets, not\nleast in Germany.\n\nDespite the cut in VAT that was implemented in Germany, we do not yet see any\nclear changes in visitor patterns or willingness to pay for premium products.\nThe focus continues to be on simpler offerings at lower prices, which has a\ndirect impact on the mix in our premium segment.\n\nWhat are you doing specifically to address this market?\n\nWe are working in parallel on several fronts. Cost discipline and operational\nefficiency remain high priorities, while we are investing powerfully for the\nfuture. For example, during the quarter we saw the first deliveries from our\nnew external warehouse in Meppen, Germany, which will boost our delivery\ncapability, flexibility and scalability in Europe when fully implemented.\n\nWe also continue to develop our offering through innovation and sustainable\nsolutions. Launches such as Velviq® and Softiq® in Dining Solutions, as well\nas initiatives in circular systems and reuse, are important for both customer\nvalue and long-term competitiveness. It's not just about products, it's also\nabout how we help customers transform their offering.\n\nAt the same time, Food Packaging Solutions made a positive contribution to\nincome – how do you view that?\n\nFood Packaging Solutions plays an important role in the Group. Operating\nincome improved by SEK 11 m compared with the previous year, driven by good\ncost control that improved the margin and increasingly stronger growth within\nDuniform in Sweden. The business area's strength lies in its broad product\noffering, which is adapted to different customer segments and geographical\nregions. In addition, our sustainability work ensures that our product\nportfolio is adapted to new regulations and legislation at an early stage.\n\nThe acquisition of Solserv – how does it fit into the strategy?\n\nSolserv is a clear example of how we are broadening Food Packaging Solutions\nwith a stronger offering in industrial applications and after-sales services.\nThis strengthens Duniform and gives us access to a new customer segment with\ndifferent drivers than traditional HoReCa.\n\nIn a more volatile world, such additions are important to create stability, a\nbetter spread of risk and a more balanced business model over time.\n\nHow do you see the outlook for the future?\n\nWe expect uncertainty to persist and demand for premium products to remain\nsubdued until the recovery kicks in. At the same time, Duni Group is strong,\nwith two complementary business areas, a broad geographical presence and a\nclear focus on sustainability, innovation and efficiency.\n\nOur mission is to navigate wisely in the short term without losing momentum in\nthe long term. It's about being both cautious and decisive – which I think\nwe're also showing in this quarter.\n\nRobert Dackeskog,\nPresident and CEO, Duni Group \n\nFor additional information, please contact:\nMagnus Carlsson, EVP Finance/CFO, +46 40-10 62 00, magnus.carlsson@duni.com\nPetra Lamorell, Interim Head of Communications, +46 76-874 03 87,\npetra.lamorell@duni.com \n\nDuni AB (publ) \nBox 237 \n201 22 Malmö, Sweden \nTelephone: +46 40 10 62 00 \nwww.duni.com \nRegistration no. 556536-7488 \n\nThis information was brought to you by Cision http://news.cision.com.\n\nhttps://news.cision.com/duni-group/r/interim-report-january-1---march-31--2026,c4339119\n\nThe following files are available for download:\n\n https://mb.cision.com/Main/295/4339119/4056208.pdf Interim report for Duni Ab (publ) January 1 - March 31 2026 \n https://news.cision.com/duni-group/i/net-sales-q1-2026,c3531543 Net Sales Q1 2026 \n https://news.cision.com/duni-group/i/operating-income-q1-2026,c3531544 Operating Income Q1 2026 \n\n \n\nView original\ncontent:https://www.prnewswire.co.uk/news-releases/duni-group-interim-report-january-1--march-31-2026-302752633.html\n\n\n\nCopyright (c) 2026 PR Newswire Association,LLC.
